Just to review what I have been doing lately: I had a great gig last Saturday at the Duke Energy Center for Children's Hospital. It was a large event, around 500 people. We(Tim Watson, Steve Barone, and Joe Jahnigen) had a blast playing jazz standards for "older" crowd of people who didn't want to dance after dinner. Everything ran smoothly. Thank you, Cara Cross!
The following day I had a fun rehearsal with Jim Connerley's Vintage Keys group. We are at the Wisp this Friday at 8:30.
Monday and Tuesday were tough. I had a stomach flu virus. I managed to teach, not much practicing.
Today I feel better, actually ran a couple of miles. Herb Aronoff called me this morning to sub for him with the Blue Wisp Big Band. This will get me back on track for the weekend. Nothing like playing in front of John Von Ohlen to get inspired. I am blessed to able to play with him.
I hope everyone has a great week.
