Cincinnati Jazz Saxophonist

Hello all,

It has been a while since my last entry. I am not much of a blogger, despite my wife prodding me to spend more time on my web site. However, I figure a year end wrap-up is in order so here goes.

I have have one of the best years in terms of gigging that I have ever had. Not a ton of jazz gigs :( but I have had plenty of work in a slow economy, so for that I am very grateful. I would like to thank all of the bands that I work with and sub for for calling me up and getting me on the gig.

I have also had a great year for practicing and honing in on my doubles. I have made great strides on flute and clarinet this year. Just sort of got in a groove with it because I got tired of dragging my tenor and alto out to everyday of teaching. Then I started getting into it and have been on a roll ever since.

As far as jazz is concerned, I did get my 2nd CD out early last year. I wish that I had more venues to showcase that group, but with Anthony and Steve in the Big Apple, I guess it would have been hard to get them all together anyway. I would like to take the chance to thank the guys again for their amazing playing and their wonderful attitudes towards rehearsals and playing music. Never once did any of you seem like you are dark on music or the state of music. I love and need those kinds of positive attitudes in this slow season of jazz.

To everyone who has been out this year to hear me play, thank you! Without your support there would be little or no live music left. Musicians sometimes forget that without listeners, music is pretty pointless. So please continue to help support our habit and come out to hear some music in 2011.
